The Mortuary (fiction) Part 1

Red and white. Everywhere. The mortuary was decorated like it was Valentine's Day. It was July. She was 13. In August her cousin would have turned 18. That would never happen now.

Her mother had forced makeup on her, She looked like a clown with bright pink cheeks and purple lips. She wanted to tell her mother that it was the 90s and the 70s had long gone.

She hated this elegant building with its elegant wood furniture upholstered in red and white. Was it supposed to represent blood and bone?
